The rise of tick populations that are highly resistant to acaricides has caused a major setback in the effectiveness of the major classes of acaricides used to control tick species infesting cattle. This not only threatens sustainable animal production and food security but also impacts food safety, efforts to combat AMR, pathogen transmission to humans, and ecosystem health.
This community dialogue is to present the FAO guidelines for sustainable tick control and acaricide resistance management and discuss the challenges on management of acaricide resistance unique to Africa.
The webinar is available with French and English translation.
Jointly hosted between FAO and the World Association for Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology Africa Network (WAAVP-AN).
