Organizational Setting
The FAO Representation in Libya is responsible for the development, promotion, supervision, and implementation of programmes and strategies jointly prepared with the Government in the areas of food, agriculture, and rural development. It also maintains strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including government institutions and financial and technical partners.

Reporting Lines
The expert will work under the overall supervision of the FAO Representative in Libya, the direct supervision of the Animal Production Health Technical Officer, and the Project Coordinators.

Technical Focus
This mission supports the development and implementation of projects in livestock production and animal health to enhance food security and rural livelihoods in Libya. It involves technical assistance, capacity building, and support collaboration with stakeholders to strengthen sustainable livestock systems. The role contributes to policy development and knowledge sharing in line with national priorities.

Tasks and responsibilities
•    Provide technical and operational support for the implementation and monitoring of projects and activities.
•    Support the preparation of work plans and budget estimates for projects activities, 
•    Draft technical reports on project deliverables, concept notes, and project proposal documents.
•    Review consultant reports to ensure compliance with terms of reference and specifications prior to submission for LTO approval.
•    Capitalize on existing and emerging information to develop knowledge products and tools that ensure the sustainability of acquired knowledge.
•    Support the organization of training workshops and meetings with relevant partners.
•    Perform any other related tasks as may be assigned.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements    

•    Advanced university degree (Minimum Master) in veterinary science, animal production, animal health, livestock management, or a related field. 
•    At least 5 years of experience in livestock production, animal health, pastoral/agro pastoral systems, or sustainable livestock development policies with practical experience in contexts similar to Libya.
•    Working knowledge and command of English and Arabic.
•    National of Libya or resident in the country with a regular work permit.
