The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is launching a call for case studies on innovative solutions for monitoring diversity of pollinators and provision of pollination services. The case studies can focus on both the scientific research of innovative approaches to monitoring genetic diversity in pollinators and the practical applications of innovative tools and technologies.
We welcome impactful, innovative, inclusive, and relevant submissions by 28 February 2025 via the link: https://forms.office.com/e/CS7h1uDjfw
Selected submissions will be featured at the Regional Multistakeholder Meeting on Digital Tools for Genetic Diversity of Pollinators, to be held in a hybrid format on 9–11 April 2025.
This meeting will address interconnected challenges, including maintaining pollinator genetic diversity, mitigating agrochemical poisoning of pollinators, and enhancing the economic sustainability of pollination services. Innovative solutions are critical to making pollination services more efficient, inclusive, and sustainable, particularly for small-scale producers, family farmers, and other under-represented stakeholders.
The event is envisioned as the inception meeting for a regional network on apiculture and pollination, with the goal of establishing an annual gathering.
Through this call, FAO seeks to promote win-win solutions that effectively manage trade-offs, optimize efficiencies, and foster innovation. The initiative also aims to strengthen collaboration opportunities, such as public–private partnerships, knowledge-sharing networks, and capacity-building programs.
Submission criteria:
- Solutions applied in Europe and Central Asia
- Open to all organizations, including the private sector, academia, and research institutions, as well as individuals
Key deadlines:
- Submission deadline: 28 February 2025.
- Response by FAO: 15 March 2025
- Regional Multistakeholder Meeting on Digital Tools for Genetic Diversity of Pollinators: 9–11 April 2025.
Why participate?
- Selected solutions will be featured at the Regional Multistakeholder Meeting on Digital Tools for Genetic Diversity of Pollinators, to be held in a hybrid format on 9–11 April 2025. This may include an invitation to present – physically or virtually – the case study during the event.
