2023 CALL FOR ABSTRACTS IS NOW OPEN

Key Details
CPHIA 2023 will reconvene in Lusaka, Zambia from 27 – 30 November to showcase new and exciting scientific discoveries while also advancing programs and policies to create more resilient health systems. The conference theme this year is “Breaking Barriers: Repositioning Africa in the Global Health Architecture.”
The CPHIA 2023 organizers are pleased to invite abstracts for all conference tracks from any and all interested parties.
- Opening of call: Submissions are now welcome!
- Submission deadline: 30 August 2023 at 23:59hrs CAT [21:59hrs UTC]. **No abstracts will be accepted past the official due date.**
- Acceptance: Applicants will be notified of acceptances by 30 September 2023
- CPHIA Conference: Accepted abstracts will be presented at the CPHIA 2023 conference in Lusaka, Zambia on 27 – 30 November.
Guidelines:
Only abstracts with original work within the following tracks will be accepted for the conference:
- Track 1: Pandemic Preparedness and Resilient Financing Mechanisms for Africa
- Track 2: Fostering African-led Innovation: Advancing Local Production in Vaccines, Diagnostics and Therapeutics
- Track 3: Delivering Universal Health Coverage in Africa: Strengthened and Equitable Health Systems
- Track 4: For Women by Women: Access to Adequate Healthcare for Young Girls and Women in Africa
- Track 5: Safeguarding Africa’s Health Security: Health Emergencies, Biosecurity, Climate change, and Multi-Sectoral Response Mechanisms
- Track 6: Transforming Health in Africa through Digital Innovation
- Track 7: Whole-of-Society: The Power of Engaging Civil Society, the Private Sector and Local Philanthropy
- Track 8: Combating Infectious Diseases, NTDs and Antimicrobial Resistance in Africa
- Track 9: Unmasking the Silent Epidemics: Non-communicable Diseases (NCDs), Mental Health and Injuries
Authors should upload their abstracts via the web-based Oxford Abstracts submission platform. While you may submit more than one abstract, only one abstract per person (primary author) will be accepted. Research should have been conducted within the 2020-2023 period to ensure relevance. Abstracts must not exceed 300 words. Please read the full submission guidelines below.

Application & Timeline
When will I hear if my abstract has been accepted and when must I confirm I will present?
Applicants will be notified of their abstract acceptance by 30 September 2023, and must confirm participation within a week of notification.
My abstract has been previously presented or published elsewhere, can I still submit it for consideration?
Abstracts that have been previously presented elsewhere will be considered at the jury’s discretion, but priority will be given to abstracts that have not yet been presented at any other scientific conference. Please see the call for abstracts submission guidelines above for more detailed information.
Can I make edits to my submission?
Edits cannot be made to an abstract once it has been submitted. However, in the event that your abstract is selected for an oral or poster presentation and has undergone significant changes after acceptance, those changes should be highlighted in the abstract presentation.
I missed the deadline. Can I still submit?
Unfortunately, no abstracts will be accepted past the official due date. We hope you are still able to join us in Lusaka this year, and we encourage you to submit your abstract for consideration next year.
Registration, Travel, & Scholarships
Do abstract presenters need to attend the conference in person?
Yes, CPHIA 2023 is an in-person conference. Abstract presenters are expected to attend the conference in Lusaka, Zambia if selected to give an oral or poster presentation.
Are abstract presenters exempt from paying the conference registration fee?
If your abstract is accepted for an oral or poster presentation, your conference registration fee will be waived.
Are scholarships available for abstract presenters?
There may be a limited number of scholarships available to cover travel and accommodation expenses for early career abstract presenters. You will be prompted during the submission process to check a box if you would like to be considered for this support. To request this support, you are required to submit a statement of need along with your abstract.
Please note that a request for support does not mean automatic selection for a scholarship. Only authors that have been accepted for an oral or poster presentation will be eligible for scholarships. Applicants will be notified if a scholarship will be awarded along with the notification of the acceptance or rejection of their abstracts.
