Lead: Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Germany (VSF Germany), active in the Greater Horn of Africa since 1998, is recruiting a Program Manager to lead its Uganda Country Programme—projects, people, budgets, partners, and donor relations—with frequent travel to hard-to-reach field locations.
Role at a glance
The Program Manager will provide overall leadership to the VSF Germany Uganda Country Programme: strategic oversight of projects, staff management, financial stewardship, stakeholder coordination, donor engagement, and country-level representation. The initial contract is 1 year, renewable based on performance and/or funding availability, with regular field travel including remote areas.
Key responsibilities
- Lead project planning and implementation (workplans, budgets, oversight of teams and service providers).
- Coordinate stakeholders for effective implementation, M&E, documentation, and learning.
- Produce high-quality, timely reports to donors/partners.
- Ensure strong internal and external communication for smooth delivery.
- Lead concept note and proposal development; strengthen donor/partner networks.
- Drive learning, experience sharing, accountability, and dissemination of lessons learned.
- Ensure strict compliance with organizational policies and donor rules.
- Closely supervise finance, logistics, procurement, and administration.
- Manage third-party contracts and oversee services delivered to projects.
- Mentor the programme team to maintain performance and morale.
- Represent VSF Germany in key meetings, trainings, workshops, and events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Production, or Biological Sciences.
- Minimum 7 years field practice/experience.
- Minimum 5 years proven NGO project management experience.
- Excellent working English; ability to work under deadlines in diverse teams.
