The Netherlands Ambassador to Cameroon, Benin and Equatorial Guinea, H.E. Mrs. TO TJOELKER-KLEVE alongside investment partners under the banner of the Investment Promotion Agency (IPA), were received in audience by the Minister of Livestock Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr. Taiga on the 21st March 2022.
The delegation of 17 industry leaders in agriculture, energy, horticulture, food industry, fisheries and Animal Industries intend to promote productive investments in Cameroon. The over one-hour meeting began with an introduction of MINEPIA’s mission with a focus on implementing government’s policy of import substitution and encouraging partners to invest in aquaculture and milk production in particular.
Dr. Taiga explained that there is currently a search for partners to start up parent farms to produce locally instead of importing livestock and poultry from Europe. He equally expounded on the need to develop fish farms in Cameroon as there is currently a deficit of 300 thousand metric tons of fish in the country. He recalled that the Netherlands is specialized in aquaculture and it is an opportunity for them to invest in that domain.
Discussions equally focused on the creation of an enterprise for the production of shrimps which would be exported to other nations. The delegation promised to look into the various investment opportunities and the possibility of working in close collaboration with other investors in Cameroon.
