Cameroon : Livestock exhibition 2023: Farmers implement 2nd generation agriculture

The 8th edition of the livestock exhibition also known as DJOULDE DABADJI (DJODA 2023) has taken place with a call for livestock owners to implement second generation agriculture.

The call was made by the Minister of Livestock Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr TAIGA while closing the three-day event which began on December 13 2023.

This year’s edition was held under the theme “Development of dairy production, challenges of import substitution in Cameroon”.

The event brought together stakeholders in the livestock sector in and out of the country.

Activities included exhibition of livestock of all breeds, B to B meetings, presentations on various themes such as genetic amelioration of milk production, mastery of milk transformation, vaccination and control of zoonoses among others.

The major innovation during this edition was the promotion of intensive cultivation of pasture through agricultural mechanisation and auction sale of livestock.

The best exhibitors were awarded cash prizes as well as equipment to facilitate livestock farming. The weight of the animal determined the winner with some animals weighing up to one ton.

A horse race crowned the event.
