WOAH launches call for applications for the PVS Pathway Expert Training Programme

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has launched a call for applications for its PVS Pathway Expert Training Programme, an initiative designed to strengthen excellence, consistency and diversity in the implementation of the Performance of Veterinary Services (PVS) Pathway.

The programme aims to identify and train experienced experts, as well as new candidates, who can contribute to the delivery of PVS Pathway activities in support of Veterinary Services and Aquatic Animal Health Services worldwide. These activities include evaluations, costing exercises and targeted capacity-building support aligned with WOAH international standards.

For Africa and other regions, this call represents an important opportunity for senior veterinary professionals to contribute to stronger animal health governance, improved compliance with international standards, and more resilient Veterinary Services.

The PVS Expert Pool is intended for highly experienced professionals with at least 10 years of relevant experience in Veterinary Services, academia, industry or related fields. Candidates should demonstrate regional or international experience, strong technical competencies, ethical conduct, leadership, communication skills and proficiency in at least two WOAH official languages.

The training programme will include eLearning opportunities, remote learning events and, for selected new candidates, a face-to-face training event. Around 80 to 100 candidates are expected to be shortlisted for the remote phase, while up to 40 participants may be selected for the face-to-face component. The in-person training for new candidates is planned in Kazakhstan from 30 November to 4 December 2026.

Eligible candidates will be assessed on technical expertise, application of WOAH standards, professional experience, analytical and communication skills, leadership, commitment to WOAH’s mission, language skills and regional expertise.

Applications must be submitted by 30 June 2026 at 23:59 CET. Applicants are expected to complete the application form, upload an updated CV and provide relevant supporting documents. Successful candidates may eventually be admitted to the PVS Expert Pool, subject to completion of the required training stages and compliance documentation.

This call is particularly relevant for veterinary professionals committed to strengthening Veterinary Services, advancing animal health systems and supporting the implementation of international standards across Africa and globally.
